Should I buy a nintendo ds lite now in 2011 ar just save to get a 3DS?

Well i mostly have all sony prodeucts(ps3,psp) and have never tried a nintendo gaming product so i was thinking of getting a ds lite but it was released in 206 and the 3DS is out so should i go get get the ds lite(if it doesn't die in few months)or save up for a 3DS and i want to know are the $250 dollarsworth it or is it just a fail?????and is there chance that it's price gonna go down in a few months????i know this is out of the question but should i also consider ps vita???please only suggest portable consoles.......I am 13 and 8 months!!!
