Ron Paul supporters, a economic question?

It's unfeasible to go back to the gold standard while 14 trillion dollars in debt. I'm sure Dr. Paul knows this and would try to fix the debt first. I have a counter question for you though, is it fair that the Federal Reserve is able to essentially add an extra tax on for all Americans through inflation?
